Body language non-verbal communication has been used since the days of our ancestors for mating and survival. Men and women alike will use body language in at least 55% of their waking communication. Even in sleep, body language through their facial expressions can show whether they are in agony or bliss.

Body language as lie indicators has been widely used by men and women to sense whether their partners are truthful or not. Being in love will make couples’ eyes light up and their pupils dilated when they are together. Body language lie indicators will have the partners keeping their distance and making less physical contacts if they already fall out of love. The understanding of body language also allows law enforcement officers to interpret body language of suspects during questioning. People who lies usually make unnecessary gestures and they tend to either look you straight in the eyes or frequently darts their sights at random places.

As babies, not being able to talk means the only way to communicate is through body language. They will show their fear, love and excitement from their actions and their facial expressions. Babies are also great sensor of body language. They will know when they are facing someone angry, loving or hateful and act accordingly. Body language nonverbal communication is something we pick up as we grow. Men and women learn to hide anger, frustration, attraction, hatred and sadness through words but most of the time people are able to read how they really feel through their body language.

@Angel - I think the reason it only takes 10 mins to make those judgments, is because we're speaking constantly - with our body language. There's a write up about how this works here: The science of flirting with body language Patrick
